Devi Murthy: This unassuming Ghazal singer from Hyderabad hails from a reputed family of Vainikas and Carnatic classical singers of Andhra Pradesh. The youngest daughter of the famous Veena Maestro, the late Shri Emani Sankara Sastry, former Producer Emeritus of A.I.R. and Doordarshan. Devi branched into ghazal singing during her formative years, and this is where she has created a niche for herself. She has been bestowed with various honours and titles such as Pearl of Hyderabad, Malika e Ghazal and Ghazal dar Ghazal [GhazalSougandhika] for her mellifluous rendering of the Urdu poetic verse. Devi enthrals her audience with her depth and range and complete command of form and content. The ragas are like putty in her hands to be moulded according to the manifold dimensions and demands of Shairi.
